Albemarle CiderWorks: Where the craft of fine cider-making is making a comeback!

For nearly two centuries, cider was America’s staple beverage, but virtually disappeared after the mid-19th century. From the first settlements, cider provided vital nutrients through the winter months and was often used for barter and trade. Orchards today grow apples primarily for fresh markets instead of cider production, but cider is enjoying a comeback in America and Virginia.
