TINSLEY QUINCE was found early in 1900 near Crawley in Sussex, England. It is medium to large in size, and rectangular in shape, with prominent ribbing at the eye, and slightly on the body. The whitish-yellow skin has some russet dots and russet patches near the base. It is greasy to the touch. The yellow flesh with a slight quince flavor surrounds a noticeably light-yellow and sometimes, white core. Tinsley Quince is exceptional as a frying apple because of its distinctive taste. The fruit ripens in late September.
