Fine fruit is the most perfect union of the useful and the beautiful that the earth knows.
Fruit
KARMIJN DE SONNAVILLE originated in the Netherlands, and is a cross of Cox's Orange Pippin and Jonathan. The round fruit, variable in shape, is a red-orange over a greenish-yellow background, with some russeting around the blossom end. The yellowish flesh is coarse, juicy and very acidic. Storage of this high-flavored dessert variety will reduce the acidity. Moderately vigorous, the tree is spreading and fairly productive, but it is subject to preharvest drop. Karmijn ripens in September.
