HARALSON is a cross of Malinda and Ben Davis developed at the University of Minnesota, HARALSON was selected in 1913 and introduced in 1923. There is a sport with solid red blush called Red Haralson. The white flesh is crisp, firm, juicy, and tender, with a mild tart flavor. The vigorous tree tends to biennial bearing and exhibits some resistance to fireblight and cedar apple rust. It often bears the second year after planting. Suitable for dessert, baking, and cider making, it will store for 4 or 5 months with good flavor retention. The ripening time is late September.
