Live Music in the Orchard: Willie DE
Live Music in the Orchard: Willie DE

Come join us, sip cider & enjoy some music.

Willie DE, a nationally touring young artist based in Central Virginia, blends blues, jazz, and rock (mostly rock!) to create a fresh, original sound. Growing up on Bob Dylan and Van Morrison, he busked on Charlottesville’s downtown mall and outside football games in Charlottesville performing original material and most anything the crowd asked for. At the age of 13 he formed a band called The Wave. The young band’s success landed them at major festivals like Floydfest where the group took the Main Stage in 2011. The Wave recorded two full albums and one EP worth of Willie’s original rock songs.

Live Music in the Orchard: Old Gems

Sip some cider & enjoy live music by Old Gems!

"Old Gems is a string band trio from Charlottesville VA, playing traditional Appalachian and Appalachian-adjacent music with a focus on meditative exploration of the region’s ancient and sometimes haunting tonalities. Mary Dorsey Evans, Bob Holub and Christen Hubbard, all multi-instrumentalists with long and varied musical backgrounds, settled on the blend of mountain dulcimer, banjo, and fiddle for their sound, with the hypnotic drone of the dulcimer providing a lush meadow for the fiddle and banjo to dance upon."

Silent Book Club 10/27
Silent Book Club 10/27

Sip cider and read in quiet camaraderie. No assigned reading, no obligations. Bring your own book of choice. This is a free social event hosted in our Orchard Room.

We are excited to be Charlottesville's second chapter of Silent Book Club, an international organization bringing bibliophiles together.

From the official website of Silent Book Club:

"At Silent Book Club, there's no assigned reading. All readers are welcome—ebooks, audiobooks, textbooks, comic books... it's BYOBook. Our events are free and support local businesses. Friends and strangers gather at a set time and location, order food or drinks, share what they're reading, and settle in for an hour of silent, sustained reading. At the end of the hour, attendees can socialize—or not!

We started Silent Book Club because reading with friends enriches our lives and makes us happy. We love hearing about what people are reading (often in their other book clubs) and we think it's important to put down our phones and be social."

Schedule:
12:30 Arrive early to order food/ drinks/ chat
1-2pm Reading
2-3pm Mingle (or keep reading)

You can read about the experience in Cville Weekly's "Tried it in Cville Column" thanks to talented local journalist Kristie

We also have a Goodreads and a Facebook page for the group, if you'd like to connect!
